Nowadays energy production from renewable sources is getting stategic for Europe and particularly for Italy, which basically has no fossil fuels availability.

Power production from renewables in 2004 has been approximately 55 TWh, i.e. 16% of the national gross consumption. Comparing to 2003, the average increase has been of approximately 16%.

More than 75% of renewable power production comes from hydro.
Geothermic contributes for 10%, biomass (wood and biogas) and fuel from waste (RDF and MSW) for 10%, wind for 3% and PV for 0.05%..

Energy conversion of renewable souces
(ref. Italian Decree No. 387/03), such as biomass and RDF, can play a key role in greehouse effect reduction, local resources saving and energy production.

The consequence of environmentally friend and efficient combustion is promoting the use of renewables sources.
